Welcome
to our new page showing the progress made towards the development of our proposed new Parish Hall.
All the complicated jigsaw pieces are finally slotting together and we hope to have some exciting news to share very soon. We will be adding more information to this page as the project develops. If you are interested, you will find more detailed, historical information available on the Parish Council website here.
Why do we need a new Parish Hall?
We have a once in a lifetime opportunity to give the Parish of Marden the community building it needs and deserves.
We have been gifted a generous plot of land adjacent to Marden Academy and the current community centre, where we plan to build a Parish Hall fit for purpose now and for the future. The land and building will be owned solely by the Parish Council and leased to Marden Village Trust to allow 7 days a week, 365 days a year availability for use by our community avoiding the strict safeguarding restrictions currently imposed by the use of a building shared by children. Relinquishing the current community rooms also gives the academy room to expand with a much needed additional classroom a ‘win win’ situation all round.
The plot will also have a large grassed area behind, which will be used as a village green. The views across open countryside are spectacular and will make for an amazing backdrop for private functions and community events. There will be sliding doors from the main rooms opening out onto a covered veranda and the green. (shown above)
We will post any developments to the build process here – watch this space………..
